About Us
Notes from our
owner, Myron "Stoney"
Burke.
The origin of
our company is
in a small
commercial
salmon fishery
on Lummi Island
in Washington
State. 30 years
ago as a reefnet
fisherman I
wanted a more
durable, lighter
weight, and more
maintenance free
work skiff. We
needed a stable,
stationary work
platform to
maintain our
anchored,
floating and
underwater cable
and rope
rigging. We
navigated
northern Puget
Sound waters
with the
challenges of
strong tide flow
and changing
marine weather
conditions. We
tended scuba
divers as they
helped us
maintain our
apparatus. We
hauled our fish
to tenders on
the water and to
buyers on the
beach. We moored
our skiffs, in
all conditions,
for ready access
to the fishing
gear anchored
offshore. The
obvious choice
was to build an
aluminum skiff.
There were
only a couple
aluminum skiffs
in the reef net
fleet then. I
adapted some of
the traditional
ideas that
worked for wood
plank and
plywood boats
for decades in
the business.
Over the years
since emulating
the early ideas
of others, I
designed and
experimented to
provide the best
possible boat
for the needs at
hand. Today
virtually the
entire fleet
uses my boats. I
recognized there
was a market for
boats of my
design in other
maritime working
situations. We
have expanded
and supply many
different
industrial
marine companies
and individuals.
I work to
develop good
working
relationships
with our
customers so we
can build to
suit their
needs. I use
many of these
ideas to offer
solutions for
new customers.
Thus our designs
evolve and
improve as our
customer base
grows.
